Research Initiatives

HSB’s rigorous research team plans and organizes efforts to investigate topics in social sciences and humanities, focusing particularly on anthropology, social welfare, art and culture (mainly film studies), tourism, education and development. The team collaborates with domestic and international researchers, as well as diverse research teams and organizations, to generate knowledge and explore new ideas aimed at addressing societal challenges. HSB’s research team members’ longstanding relationships with freelance researchers in Japan, Korea and the UK have significantly enhanced their experience and maturity in leading and supporting research initiatives.

Our team members have engaged in numerous research activities, including anthropological studies of street children and street spaces in Kathmandu, child protection and rights policies in Nepal, social welfare and the rights of differently abled people, brick production in Nepal, Soapberries’ potential with Japanese researchers, financial literacy, and the culture and traditions of people living in the West Seti River corridor. This team is collectively lead by the Chair Madhav Prasad Ghimire, CEO Bishnu Bhatta and MD Roshan Bikram Thakuri.
